This fascinating river cruise takes you along the tranquil banks of the Main River from Frankfurt through Wertheim to Aschaffenburg and back. Immerse yourself in the vibrant metropolis of Frankfurt and continue on to Wertheim, a charming town whose medieval charm has stood the test of time. In Aschaffenburg, you can look forward to majestic castles and Baroque architecture that reflect the city’s rich past. Finally, you’ll return to Frankfurt, filled with unforgettable memories of a unique cruise on the Main.

BASIC - Mini Cruise on the Main (CLEA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as the menu, public announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, tours are available with English-speaking guides, and the crew on board speaks English (and usually German as well).

Frankfurt - “Here I am, man, here I dare to be!” – this quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe comes from Faust, but it also aptly characterizes his native Frankfurt. The city is a fascinating combination of a modern financial center with skyscrapers and a historic core with half-timbered houses and monuments. And when you’re in the mood for a moment of peace, just take a stroll along the picturesque banks of the Main River, which will enchant you with their unique atmosphere.

Wertheim - Thanks to its well-preserved city walls, narrow streets, richly decorated half-timbered houses, and picturesque market square, Wertheim offers a relatively authentic glimpse of old Franconia. The castle ruins tower high above the town and are among the largest in Germany. In his 1862 description of the Main River, Karl Baedeker described Wertheim as the most beautiful spot on the entire journey.

Aschaffenburg - offers its visitors a wide range of experiences and sights. From historic buildings to idyllic nature parks, there is something for everyone here. The absolute highlight is Johannisburg Castle—an imposing Renaissance palace. From its towers, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the old town and the Main River.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Frankfurt - 19:00
Welcome to Goethe’s birthplace! Here’s another historical fact while we’re at it: this is where the first German national assembly met in 1848. Today, the metropolis on the Main is home to the headquarters of major banks and is also one of Germany’s most important centres of business and commerce. Frankfurt is also known for its many futuristic-looking high-rises.
2 Wertheim 12:00 21:00
With its well-preserved city wall, narrow alleyways, richly decorated half-timbered houses and picturesque market square, Wertheim is quaint and relatively authentic. The ruined castle, perched on a hill, is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. In his 1862 account of the Main region, Karl Baedeker describes Wertheim as the high point of the entire trip. You can put this claim to the test yourself during your Rhine cruise.
3 Aschaffenburg 07:00 22:30
Aschaffenburg offers its visitors a wide range of experiences and sights. From historic buildings to idyllic nature parks, there is something for everyone to discover here. An absolute highlight is Johannisburg Castle - an imposing Renaissance palace. From its towers, you enjoy a breathtaking view over the old town and the River Main.
