Antwerp knows a thing or two about Christmas sparkle—sparkle was practically invented here. In this remarkable old trading city, diamonds are cut and polished until they shine like stars in the sky. Antwerp itself is a jewel. From the boat, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the grand houses with their ornate gabled roofs. In Amsterdam, houseboats adorned with Christmas lights bob on the canals, and creative locals compete to see who can create the most festive display.

BASIC - Christmas on the Rhine (SENA)

All cruises are international, meaning that all materials—such as the menu, shipboard announcements, etc.—are in English. Similarly, excursions are available with English-speaking guides, and the onboard staff speaks English (and usually German as well).

Cologne – The enormous Christmas tree looks absolutely charming against the backdrop of Cologne Cathedral. You’ll feel the Christmas spirit the moment you board, and you’ll set sail toward the Netherlands in the best festive mood, while the cathedral slowly shrinks on the horizon.

Antwerp - When your cruise stops in Antwerp, you’ll immediately realize that this small Flemish port is no stranger to festive sparkle. In fact, sparkle was literally invented right here: this traditional trading city is a major diamond hub, where precious stones are polished until they shine like stars in the sky. Antwerp itself is also a gem—from the ship, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of its stately houses with ornate gables.

Amsterdam - In Amsterdam, you’ll feel the Christmas spirit on every corner, whether in a cozy pub, on a canal cruise, or in the museums. Houseboats and narrow houses with ornate gables shine with festive splendor. The Dutch know how to celebrate.

Itinerary

Day Place Arrival Departure
1 Cologne - 18:00
Welcome to Cologne! The typical friendliness that you find at every turn makes visitors feel at home right away. It’s not unusual to quickly get chatting to strangers and even go for a couple of glasses of Kölsch with them. The main landmark – Cologne Cathedral – watches over the whole city. It is the third-tallest church building in the world, at 157.38 metres. It might be a bit of a trek up to the top of the tower, but it’s worth it. You’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the city and the Rhine spread out before you.
2 Amsterdam (Lelystad*) 13:00 -
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, relaxed atmosphere, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water.  *In individual cases, the local authorities in Amsterdam may not confirm the reserved berths. If no berth is allocated, our guests will be provided with a shuttle bus to Amsterdam.

7 Nijmegen 06:00 12:00
Did you know that Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands? You only need to cross the Waalburg arch bridge into the centre to understand why the 160,000 inhabitants are so proud of their city: the Waalkade wharf and the silhouette of the city-centre buildings combine to form a truly impressive sight.
